We can always create anything on stage! / Phoebe Wang
When we are on stage with nothing but ourselves, we can always create anything.
The “stick holding” exercise starts with a stick being hold between two people, the partners need to make moves and at the same time keep the stick from falling. In the next stage of the exercise, same rules are followed except that the stick is changed into an imaginary one. The key in this part is to be mindful and keep up the energy in the movements.
“Fluid Sculpture” is one of the forms of Playback Theater, with a set of 3~4 actors acting out the feelings or the main points from the story told by the teller. In our weekly practice, stories from the past weeks are the source of Fluid Sculpture. Today, we talked about our thoughts for the coming of our first official performance. Voices of fear and doubt were heard, hearts with confidence and great expectations for the performance were also shared. In acting out the different feelings, the instructor of our group, Jester, helped us to get in touch with the essence of the emotions and to bring out better expressions with our body language.
In one great voice,“We’re on our way!” we end tonight’s practice with the same powerful vision that gathered us here.
